SLAT
Overview
The SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed) University for admission in the 5-year BA LLB and BBA LLB courses. It is one of the most widely recognized law entrance exams in India, primarily for admission to the Symbiosis Law School campuses in Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, and Nagpur.
Exam Details
The SLAT is a one hour Computer Based test with 60 multiple choice questions with no negative marking. The test is conducted in 77 cities across India. Since 2024, the test is conducted twice, in December.
Exam Pattern/Paper Format
The Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) is a computer-based exam designed to assess candidates for admission into law programs at Symbiosis International University. The test comprises five key sections: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge, each carrying 12 marks. The Logical Reasoning section tests critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, while Legal Reasoning evaluates understanding of legal principles. Analytical Reasoning focuses on assessing the candidate’s ability to analyze and solve complex scenarios. Reading Comprehension measures language proficiency and understanding of written content. Lastly, General Knowledge covers both current affairs and static knowledge, making SLAT a comprehensive assessment of a candidate’s aptitude for law studies.
Process Information
The application form is released in August. The students need to fill in the application form and also make a separate payment for each college where they wish to apply. The test is conducted in December. After the written test, students are short listed for a personal interview. The scores of the written test and interview are consolidated to prepare the final merit list.

Test Syllabus
Logical Reasoning
The Logical Reasoning section assesses your ability to analyse and interpret patterns, sequences, and arguments. This section includes questions that test critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and the ability to draw conclusions based on given premises.
What to Expect:
-Questions on syllogisms, analogies, logical sequences, and statements and conclusions.
-Puzzles and problems that require identifying patterns or relationships between elements.
Legal Reasoning
The law entrance exam syllabus includes vital areas. Legal Reasoning is arguably the most important section for law aspirants, as it tests your understanding of legal principles and their application in various scenarios. This section doesn’t require prior legal knowledge but rather assesses your ability to think like a lawyer.
What to Expect:
-Questions based on legal principles, laws, and case studies.
-Hypothetical situations where you must apply legal reasoning to arrive at the correct conclusion.
Analytical Reasoning
Analytical Reasoning is a prominent part of the LLB entrance exam syllabus that focuses on your ability to analyse information, identify patterns and solve problems logically. This section often overlaps with logical reasoning but places a greater emphasis on complex problem-solving.
What to Expect:
-Questions on data interpretation, series, and pattern recognition.
-Problems involving logical deduction and inferential reasoning.
Reading Comprehension
Reading comprehension is designed to test your ability to understand and interpret written material. This section from the LLB entrance exam syllabus includes passages followed by questions that assess your comprehension, inference, and critical thinking skills.
